$10 SCORE!!!!!

No, no this was not my $10 score. This is the lamp that is on my 'I want but even if I had the money probably wouldn't buy' list. (Am I the only one with one of those list?) This lamp is Stray Dog Designs and about $600. It is paper mache and just makes me smile...

But... a few months back while checking out our local Habitat store with Hooper, I came across this sea foam artichoke beauty. And she was $590 less then the one I loved... I wept...
a few supplies... (white lacquer in a can! - oh the things I could paint...)
Don't forget to tape the cord!
If you notice the lighting, I started this project very early in the morning but did not start painting until late afternoon. No, my a.d.d. was not kicking in, my kids were... I am sure my neighbors love my Sanford & Son projects hanging out in the front yard all day!
By night it was dry enough to bring in...Let there be light!
I still have some touch up and need a finial but I am STOKED with how it looks....

I am sure for the next week or so I will move her around the house until I find the perfect spot.

how about you, any great habitat finds?

May all your $600 wants be $10 finds...

Bye, bye birdie,
~A

I cannot believe you found that lamp for $10! It's a dead ringer for the Stray Dog version. Not too long ago I bought at gorgeous bih brass chinoiserie lantern at my Habitat store for $20. It's missing a few pieces, but we have a great lighting repair shop in town and I know they'll hook me up! Have a good week!

Wow! It looks fabulous - you are so lucky. I've also always coveted the Stray Dog artichoke lamp. Your version is great. I saw some colorful artichoke lamps at Homegoods recently but this is an even better deal!

Hey Ann - That lamp looks great! My best find ever was our dining table for the end of our great room. It is wooden painted a little more fancy than shabby-chic oval, has 2 leaves and 7 chairs for a total of $125 from Good Will. Hubbie thought I was insane buying furniture from Goodwill, but it is our favorite piece in the house now. Matches our home and busy 3-kid lifestyle perfectly. It is stamped "made in Italy" on the underside. I suspect that maybe one chair broke so they ditched it. My hubbie's best find ever was a free pristine condition hot tub with a cover from Craig's List...pump repair/tune-up was about $125 so I guess we are even in the bargain department...oh, no wait....he got me! He wins ;)
