Hooper and her crew have been at Atlantic Beach for the week staying here...
Hooper helped her sister-in-law with her house here and as a thank you she let Hooper use their beach house for a week. (Please note: we will work for beach houses!)
Soooo... We joined them at Atlantic beach for a few days.
Here are a few of our peeps together.
We are in year round school so we could only skip a few days and headed back to Wilmington on Tuesday. However, in perfect Birds of a Feather style I did not leave without something we drug out of someone's trash strapped to the top of my car.
Yes, while Hooper was out running the stars aligned (HooperLand) and she spotted an AMAZING headboard on the side of the road.
She knocked on the door and asked if we could drag it out of the trash and have it. The woman was delighted and asked for a few design tips in exchange. Hooper went into her 4th generation beach house to convince her NOT to paint the original knotty pine paneling. When Hooper got back from her run she exclaimed that I would not believe what happened to her on her run. I started with my usual sarcasm knowing how things go in HooperLand. She had taken a picture of what I would not believe...
I will have to admit when she showed me the picture I was stoked to know we now own this great piece and I can not wait to transform it. I also contemplated taking up running. That was a fleeting thought.
Anyway... We picked up the headboard and bungeed it to the top of my car.
Our kids don't even flinch when we say we can't leave yet because we have to figure out how to fit them and whatever else we have acquired (from the trash) in the car. And when we pulled back into Wilmington Jeff glanced at the top of my car --
I swear I heard him mutter "typical".
I would say all in all it was a great beach trip and great trash score! We can't wait to bring this old headboard back to life. Might even end up in your house! ...
