WE are on stands NOW!

Not only did the October issue of HGTV magazine hit the stands Saturday but it will be on our coffee tables for YEARS to come since WE ARE IN IT! Yep, it's a big spread (starting on page 134 to be exact and 7 pages, but who's counting).
We heard through the grapevine that it was hitting stands Tuesday, so...imagine Hooper's surprise shock when she was in the checkout last night at the grocery and saw the issue on stands.
Yep and after adding a bottle of champagne to her groceries and scraping herself off the floor, we read it (100 times).
We were dying to tell you about it but were sworn to secrecy. We love HGTV magazine because it gives you attainable design. Since that is where we shine, we are thankful they picked up on the importance of mixing it up to give the client the layered and collected look she wanted for her family.

While the article makes it sound like we effortlessly pulled it off in a girls' weekend, in reality, it was an eighth month process of bargain hunting, CraigsList stalking, and junk shop diving while our trusting client lived abroad.

To be able to see the end result in a glossy mag is any designer's dream come true.
See our post of the living room for more pictures of the room and the design process. Of course, we love how super stylist Matthew Gleason styled each room down to each perfect detail. The shot showcases the $10 hammered copper table we scored at a London flea market and $4 chairs Amy found on Ebay (yes, we have turned her into one of us). Mixing these finds with a pricey Oriental gave us a rich layered look while allowing us to stay within under budget.

Her kids were the best "props" of all. Capturing them perfectly in the space required the eye of photographer David Land who brought each room to life with his amazing photos. Check out our post to see more shots of the boys' room
The article is chocked full of design tips including great online shops. It even mentions a couple of our local haunts! Be sure to check them out and do some bargain hunting of your own. To see more, visit out post about the master bedroom.

The playroom is the most colorful room in the house. Full of play and imagination. We had to use ours when the legs to this table didn't arrive on the moving truck. The carpenter on site that day cut up some logs from the back yard and attached them to the top for a kid size one of a kind play table. Read more about the playroom and how the rest of the room came together.

Be sure to pick up an October issue... did we mention it's on stands now? If you are new readers, Welcome!

Don't forget to subscribe for daily emails and come back to get the (behind the scenes) scoop on the HGTV shoot!

bye bye birdie....
