Windsor Smith's New Book: Give Away

Windsor Smith's new book, Homefront, is out!
And... she sent me a copy, well, sort of....
her publicist asked me to review it.
Twist. My. Arm. It is so great, that I asked them for another copy for our readers. I just couldn't part with mine.
So.... You could be the lucky winner.

We will announce the winner one week from today - Good luck!
I read it cover to cover and IT IS GREAT. I love her work. Each and every room looks layered, textured and full of collections, history and beautiful balance. There is nothing ordinary about her spaces.

Windsor calls herself a "lifestyle architect" and she takes each room to it's fullest potential. She maximizes the space, the light and aspires to "change the way they live in them."
Every room inspires and not only demonstrates her amazing talent, but I was struck by her true gift - her ability to create a space specifically tailored to the individual that is luck enough to live in it.

I am telling you, this book is a MUST have for your coffee table. You can order it through Amazon or pick one up at your local bookstore. It got me through the weekend and now, I'm ready to tackle the work week -- inspired.

Market Recap

We survived another market (barely). We had a blast of course and got some work done, but had some major highlights.... For example, we ran into Eddie Ross and Jaithan Kochar. Yep, of course, we love their styling, but Eddie is an editor at one of our favorite mags - Better Homes and Gardens. They were delightful and a we were totally star struck. Ok, so now onto our clients...
We shopped until we dropped and found some amazing pieces. This rug was installed yesterday in a client's living room -- stay tuned.
These beauties came home with us - gorgeous vintage lucite barstools -- any takers? They are for sale.
We loved our visit to the CR Laine showroom. It was inspiring... tons of color, fun fabrics and great new pieces.
Modern History was another great stop. Who needs this coffee table? (me).
We went to Mr. Brown to be lured in their shuttle over to their warehouse. We were in heaven. The warehouse was chocked full of killer finds... did I mention we filled up a trailer?
It was a great trip... now it's time to recover. Stay tuned for more of the fab finds that made it home. We can't wait to show you where they end up!

To Market, To Market

It's that time of year again! This weekend, we are headed to the High Point Furniture Market and we can't wait! All week, I have been slammed with emails from vendors with "sneak peeks" of their new wares. We are planning where we want to stop and shop because there is so much to see! Here are just a few on our list...
One of my favorite stops is CR Laine. This market, they are launching a new line by fellow Southern Living Designer Network member, Tobi Fairley and I can hardly wait to see it. I love her work and can't wait to see her beautiful designs come to life!
Thibaut always has a beautiful showroom with lots of new introductions like this new collection called Imperial Dragon. Everyone needs a little dragon somewhere!
Thibaut is always so bright, I love this neutral vignette with birdsofa feather wallpaper.
The Arteriors showroom is filled with eye candy and it never disappoints. This year, they are launching an art deco line.
Stay tuned, we can't wait to show you what we find!
bye bye birdie...

Fab Farmhouse Reveal

I recently finished working on the living room and sunroom in a client's new fab farmhouse. I mixed old and new to give it that feeling that it could have been here for years. Check it out!
They have two young kids, so the slip covers were a must on the custom sofas -- oh, and just to be safe, it's a Sunbrella fabric.

The slipcovers in the living room are a little more tailored. I love the detailing of the tape on this custom sofa.
Fun accessories jazz up the great tabby fireplace and this cozy spot is flanked by a modern wingback. This piece was created for the clients, but it feels like it could have been a family heirloom. It reminds me of a chair my grandmother has and I love the lines of it...  Paired with a modern geometric fabric, it really makes a statement.
The jumping off point for the room was the Oriental rug that boasts some of my favorite hues. The rug's color palette adds a vibrant twist to a traditional style with pops of navy, hot pink turquoise and coral.
To stay within budget, we opted for a bone table from Pier 1. It adds texture and clean lines without breaking the bank!
Hope you like it!
bye bye birdie...
