We've Moved: BIG REVEAL!

We have officially moved! HPID is now located at 3402 Wilshire Blvd. in Wilmington, NC. We have relocated from our office on Peachtree to a new beautiful design studio and can't wait to give you a tour. We did a lot of renovations as it was originally a hair salon. For locals, it was the  Steven Ward Hair location. It was a long process deciding to invest in a property vs. renting, but I really wanted to be able to put my stamp on something and design a space that functions for us as we create designs for clients.  Let me give you a tour....
When you enter the front door, the front space is allocated for showrooms. It is a great way for clients to see what we can do! We stock some inventory (yes it is for sale) so clients can get a feel for a line or brand that we carry. We are constantly switching out inventory, lamps, art, books, accessories as those items are placed in clients' homes during installation. We can shop out of our own studio for clients to layer their homes for the perfect finished look.
I wanted to design a welcoming space for clients who can come in, have a cup of fabulous coffee (or a glass of wine) and work with us to as we transform their homes. This conference space does  double duty for presentations and just sitting down with a cup of coffee to plan the day with Lindsay and Katharine.
Thermador is always my go-to brand for appliances. I fell in love with their coffee machine when I visited Thermador Headquarters in California. When they heard I was opening a new space, they wanted me to have one! We added one of their  beverage fridges for wine and drinks for clients for late afternoon meetings.
The front showrooms are ever-changing vignettes filled with pops of color, pattern and edgy accessories.
Anna French wallpaper greets you when you walk in the door and sets the tone and backdrop for first impressions.
We repurposed an old barn door to hide our fabric book room and relocated some of the salon's mirrors to be used as mood boards.
I wanted to include built-in cabinetry to store our fabrics, wallpaper and furniture/accessories catalogs. It can be a little overwhelming when a client comes in to meet with us and they are exposed to all of our resources at once. Prestige Kitchens and Krista DeChamps created beautiful built-ins to house our library of hanging fabrics for our several upholstery lines, wood and tile samples and pull out client drawers to separate projects.
Sellers Tile & Custom Counters installed gorgeous marble tops. I chose a Pegmatite from them for the island and designed the space around the colors in that stone. The dark browns, creams, grays and tones of blush and gold set the palette for the entire studio.
Layered with collected rugs our collection at HPID from the Gallery of Oriental Rugs scatter the high gloss expresso concrete floors. We filled the cracks with gold leaf (because we could)! Nothing like a little bling mixed with concrete. Creativity abounds in our light-filled space.
The building was designed by Ligon Flynn, a renowned Wilmington architect, who I have admired for decades. No longer with us, I feel like I get to hang on to a piece of his creativity and am thankful to have had the opportunity to transform it into our new studio.  We are open by appointment and hope to have a grand opening this Summer so stay tuned!

It's wonderful, but I was so distracted by that amazing flooring.

Congratulations! This is my dream to move to a new place but unfortunately I need some more money to earn. I'm working as a research paper writer and my salary isn't so big. But I won't give up!
